With her husband, Francois, Antoinette would become widely known for later cookbooks. This early effort, produced out of her Chicago cooking school, provides a simple and charming appetizer for what was to come. After a lovely frontis picture, Antoinette writes in her Preface: "This book is affectionately dedicated to the hundreds of women that have attended my classes in the past five years, who, through their loyalty and appreciation, have been my greatest encouragement to carry on this work. I sincerely hope that this little book will act as a constant reminder of the many pleasant hours we spent together during our school work, as the memory of those eager and enthusiastic faces will always be my inspiration".
